Playfest @Orlando Shakes
Production Stage Manager of

Shakespeare and the Zombie Plague of 1590 &
The Grand Illusion Show

A true surprise favorite, this musical had the largest cast of all the staged readings (and, in my opinion, the most fun!)

My second time working with playwright Emily Dendinger, we had a magician do tricks as a part of the staged reading.

With a cast size of 13 performers, Shakespeare and the Zombie Plague of 1590 was one of my favorite readings to stage manage.

Not only did we have to teach a new cast the script and blocking within 5 days, we had to make sure we set aside time for them to learn the music.

One of my favorite stories to tell happened on the night this reading was to perform and one of the actors got a flat tire. At half hour I had to start prepping one of the playwrights to go on in his stead. But luckily the actor was able to get to the theatre on time and the show went on as usual!

After working with her on #GodHatesYou, I jumped at the chance of working with playwright Emily Dendinger again, this time on something more magical!

The Grand Illusion show was not your ordinary staged reading, with the Stage Direction Reader also being a magician who would preform tricks throughout the reading, requiring careful cue timing and calling to help with the misdirection of the audience.
